Use the smartphone to take a picture of the flagpole, use the string to measure the length of the flagpole in the picture. use the ruler to measure the sting. use the scale factor to measure the height of the pole

Measure the pole at a distance and calculate the ratio of the size of the pole on the ruler from from a distance and the actual size of the pole on the ruler.

Take a picture of the flagpole. Calculate the total length of the flagpole. From the picture, calculate the length and height of the flagpole. Using the ratio of Height/Length in the picture, calculate the scale factor. Then, use the scale factor and multiply the total length of the flagpole. Take the height of the flagpole as h

Formula: Picture height H ------------ = ------------- Picture Length Total Length , to find scale factor

Then, use the scale factor and multiply the length.

Take a picture of the flagpole. find the length of the flagpole. measure the length of the flagpole on the picture. find the scale factor. calculate the height of flagpole. Voila!

Using someone else who knows his height as a scale, take a picture of him beside the pole (which must be visible from top to bottom). Then use a ratio of the person and the pole. If the person is 1 metre and the ratio is 1: 5. The pole is 5m.

Use a person and ask him to stand beside the flagpole and then take a picture. Then find the scale ratio by measuring the height of the person in the picture and the height of the flagpole in the picture then divide the height of the flagpole in the picture by the height of the person in the picture so as to find the how many of that particular person do we need to achieve the height of the flagpole. Once we find that, we multiply it by the actual height of the person which will give us the height of the flagpole.

4.3cm (height of the flagpole in the picture) / 1.3cm (height of the person in the picture) x 1.7m (actual height of the person) ≈ 5.6m (actual height of the flagpole)

Stand a distance away from the pole. Use the smartphone to take a picture of the flagpole, use the string to measure the length of the flagpole in the picture. use the ruler to measure the sting. use the scale factor to measure the height of the pole.

Measure the pole at a distance and calculate the ratio of the size of the pole on the ruler from from a distance and the actual size of the pole on the ruler.

Throw the smartphone in a way that it will touch the top of the pole, then measure how far it lands. Using ax^2 + bx + c , work out c and find out how far up the y intercept is. The height of the y intercept will be the length of the flagpole.

Stand beside the pole. Use the phone to take a picture of you and the pole. Measure your height with the string in the picture. Then take the ratio of the pole to your height to measure the actual height of the pole.

Use the string to measure the height of the flagpole and use the ruler to measure the length of the string.
